By: Darryl Glass.

Avid golfers, by design, are an interesting group of folks. When they are playing, they talk about golf. When they are done playing, the still discuss the day and other golf related items. When at work, the primary topic of the day, is, you guessed it, golf. So, when these people intentionally move to a community that has a golf course, they will usually purchase a cart. What makes each cart have a different personality, are the golf cart accessories that they decide to add onto their new found toy.

So, before you take off to your local golf cart store, take some time and prepare. Determine what you need and what you would to have as additions. This way, you spend less time shopping and more time playing. They will offer you a stock model. It will have many features, all that you need, but nothing fancy! For golfing comfort, add seat covers, additional drink holders, pockets and shelves to hold your stuff. Some people will add an air conditioning unit, for those hot, sunny days. If you play in a wet area, adding windshield wipers will make you more comfortable. And a heater would be nice for those cool Spring or late Fall days.

Inside, however, look to add all of the creature comforts that money can buy, and there are plenty of them. Adding sheep skin seat covers will be comfortable and warm. Having an air conditioner for those hot days and a heater for the colder mornings, will assist in making your day at the course more enjoyable. With the addition of extra cup holders, a cooler, maybe a radio, to catch up on the ball scores, will also be nice touches for you.

Every cart will come with a cover. These are made to keep you from being exposed to the elements. They are not designed to stop a golf ball so, be careful. The same goes for your windshield. By customizing your cart, you could have real doors added. Just like your car, easy access and exiting, is an advantage. There will be a choice of windshields. Most players prefer one that folds. This way on warm days, you can bask in the sun and have a nice breeze in your face, as you travel around the course.

Carts can also handle a cooler. This way, if your club allows it, you will be able to stock up on your favorite beverages and bring a lunch or snack along to keep you nourished as you try to shoot your best scores. Be sure to have a spot for towels and any additional clothes that can just keep in your cart, so that your bag is only full of golf stuff. As a suggestion, be sure to have a duplicate of any rain gear, so when you play somewhere that you cannot bring your cart, you will not arrive unprepared for foul weather. Many golfers rue the day that they forgot to empty their golf cart into their bag!
